Improves quality of life for the person experiencing challenging behaviours and their family members/carers.
Positive Behaviour Support is a way to help people who may be struggling with difficult behaviours. It’s especially useful for children with autism, as well as those with intellectual, learning, developmental and social challenges.
When you receive this kind of support, you’ll work with a qualified therapist who will help you understand what triggers your emotions and behaviours. Together, you’ll develop strategies and skills to help you manage your emotions more effectively.
Our behaviour therapists are here to help you, your caregivers, and service providers understand your communication style and how it might impact others. They will also look at your surroundings, such as your home or workplace, to see if they’re affecting your behaviour.
Based on their assessments, our therapists will create a positive behaviour support and skills development plan to guide you towards managing your feelings and communication style in a positive way.
We know that sometimes the best support comes from those who have experienced similar challenges, which is why we host regular peer support groups. These groups are run by staff members who have gone through similar experiences, providing a friendly social environment where you can feel supported by your peers.
We’ll work together to understand what’s right for you.
Depending on your needs and objectives and to ensure you get the best possible results, your personalised program may also incorporate additional therapies, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology and more.
