Occupational Therapy in Brisbane

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy aims to enhance your independence in everyday tasks by helping you regain or improve the ability to perform daily activities that may have been lost or affected due to an illness, injury, or disability.

Our team of occupational therapists will work with you to identify your unique needs and develop a customised therapy plan to achieve your goals. Whether it’s taking care of yourself, managing household chores like cooking and cleaning, getting out into the community using transportation, going back to work or study or engaging in leisure activities, our goal is to support you on your journey towards greater independence and wellbeing.

What's involved?

Your occupational therapist will work closely with you to understand your rehab goals and assess your needs. Then, they’ll create a personalised program just for you, focused on improving your ability to do everyday tasks and independence. This may include:

  • Practicing different methods or techniques to get better at everyday tasks and activities.
  • Providing cognitive strategies.
  • Therapy to improve the movement and function of the arms and hands in individuals with tight and stiff muscles, difficulty controlling movement, and problems with strength and precise hand movements.
  • Recommending any tools or equipment that can make your daily activities more manageable.
  • If needed, they can suggest home modifications to make it safer for you to move around.

Your therapist will regularly check on your progress and make any necessary changes to your program to help you achieve your goals. They’ll work with you every step of the way to make sure you’re making the best possible progress.
