Walkaide® II is an advanced functional electrical stimulation (FES) system designed to assist individuals experiencing foot drop – a condition where lifting the front part of the foot is difficult due to neurological impairments. By delivering mild electrical impulses to stimulate the peroneal nerve, Walkaide® II facilitates dorsiflexion during walking, promoting a more natural gait pattern.
Worn just below the knee, Walkaide® II uses built-in sensors to detect leg movement and walking speed. Based on this data, it delivers timed electrical stimulation to the peroneal nerve, activating muscles responsible for lifting the foot. This real-time adjustment helps users clear their toes during the swing phase of gait, reducing the risk of tripping and improving walking efficiency.
