Everyone should have the chance to take part in the activities they enjoy.

If you’re living with a disability or recovering from illness or injury, our program can support you to build confidence, develop skills, and regain independence through meaningful recreation. Together, we’ll explore a wide range of activities, including:

  • Cycling and mountain biking
  • Ocean swimming and snorkelling
  • Off-road wheelchair adventures and bushwalking
  • Surfing
  • Kayaking

Our recreational therapy team is here to help you get started.

What to expect

Get started with confidence

We’re here to help you ease into adapted recreation at your own pace. Here’s what to expect when you join the program:

  • A complementary phone chat with our program manager to help you get started.
  • A first session with one of our experienced adapted recreation team to go over your skills and try out any equipment you might need.
  • A personalised recreation support plan tailored to the activity you’ve chosen.
  • Weekly sessions with our team to help you keep doing the activities you love with confidence and the right support.
  • Session length depends on the activity and location:
    • Minimum 2 hours for on-site activities at Sargood (e.g. surfing at Collaroy)
    • Minimum 4 hours for off-site activities that include travel (e.g. snorkelling at Shelley Beach in Manly)

Important information

  • All water-based activities have a minimum 2:1 staff-to client ratio.
  • Session time includes equipment hire, set up, clean, pack away and travel.
  • 7 days’ notice is required for cancellation of a session.
  • For onsite sessions, the carpark is available with entry via Birdwood Ave or free all-day street parking on Brissenden Ave.
  • Accessible bathroom, change rooms with hot showers and kitchenette are available onsite at Sargood on Collaroy.
  • To secure your regular recreational pursuit, we require you to book 12 weekly sessions at a time.
