Adapted Surfboards are designed to make surfing accessible for people with physical disabilities or mobility challenges. With customised designs focused on stability, safety and support, they enable users to experience the freedom, enjoyment and therapeutic benefits of participating in surf-based recreation.
Adapted surfboards feature modifications such as increased width and length for stability, soft tops for safety, custom handles or hand grips, and specialised prone or tandem designs.Participants can surf lying prone, seated or with support, depending on their abilities and goals. Therapists and trained support personnel assist with surf skills, board handling and safety in the water.
Adaptive surfing enhances strength, balance, cardiovascular fitness and confidence, promoting both physical and emotional wellbeing.
