What’s involved in your rehab at Royal Rehab LifeWorks Cairns?

Contact Us icon

Before you begin your rehab program, your Physiotherapist will take time to get to know you, under-stand your interests, and assess your current skills. Based on this, they'll create a personalised plan aimed at helping you to achieve your rehab goals.

Move better icon

If you have been struggling with mobility, your physiotherapist will work with you on specific exercis-es that aim to help you move easier and more actively day to day.

Training icon

Your Physiotherapist may identify that your core muscles are weak and that this is affecting your posture. They'll include specific exercises and training to help strengthen these muscles.

Knee pain and stiffness icon

If your Physiotherapist finds that your range of motion is restricted, and this limited movement is having a negative impact on your life, they will develop an exercise program to address this and help you to gain better range of motion.

Specialist equipment icon

Depending on your rehab goals, your program may include activities such as walking, biking, running, or swimming to improve your cardio fitness.

Get stronger icon

Your program may include exercises using weights to improve your strength. You can do this safely within our clinic using dumbbells, stretchy bands, heavy balls, or a pilates machine called a reformer, all under the guidance of your Physiotherapist.

Balance icon

Your Physiotherapist will guide you through different exercises to improve your balance. You might practice standing in ways that test your balance, and your Physiotherapist might add challenges like moving your head, closing your eyes, or doing an activity like throwing a ball while you balance.

Pain management icon

Your physiotherapist will make recommendations to help manage pain. These could be things like using heat or ice packs, special machines called TENs, specific exercises, or even using virtual reality tech available at the clinic.

Massage therapy icon

Your Physiotherapist may use hands-on therapies like massages, gentle movements for your joints, dry needling, stretching, and muscle energy techniques, to help reduce pain, improve muscle tone, stretch tightened muscles, strengthen weak muscles, improve circulation and mobilse joint re-strictions.

Gait movement icon

To help you walk more safely while you perform exercises, at Royal Rehab LifeWorks Cairns, we have a body weight support system that may form part of your rehab program. We can adjust how much weight you put on your legs during exercises, whether you're on a treadmill or walking around the studio.
