Sexuality and Sexual wellbeing workshops Ryde

These engaging workshops are tailored for/aimed at professionals (e.g. MDT, nurses, support workers, support coordinators, case managers, etc) working in the areas of neurological injury, disability, rehabilitation, and chronic health conditions seeking a comprehensive understanding of sexuality and sexual wellbeing in the context of rehabilitation

These workshops are suitable for all levels of experience, and it involves didactic presentation, videos, discussion, reflection, role play and skill acquisition. 

 Each workshop can be attended as a standalone and it is recommended that attendance to ‘Second Base’ is reserved for those who have previously completed ‘First Base’.

First Base learning objectives:

• Broaden Understanding of Human Sexuality: Gain insight into the diverse spectrum of human sexuality.
• Navigate Current Sexuality and Gender Concepts: Explore contemporary concepts pertinent to inclusive rehabilitation.
• Identify Sexual Dysfunction and Distress: Learn to recognise and address issues related to sexual function and sexual well-being.
• Assessing Impact of Neurological Conditions: Critically assess how neurological injuries, illnesses, and chronic health conditions influence sexual response.
• Competency in Addressing Sexuality: Develop the skills and confidence to integrate discussions on sexuality into healthcare and rehabilitation.
• MDT’s Role in the Sexual Health Landscape: Understand the multidisciplinary team’s crucial role in addressing sexual health.
• Enhance Sexual Health Assessment and Referral Skills: Acquire practical skills for assessing sexual health, conducting screenings, and making appropriate referrals.

Second Base learning objectives:

• Understand consent and capacity in the context of sexuality.
• Explore taboo and shame and how our beliefs and attitudes may impact service delivery.
• Explore the power of pleasure and sex positivity.
• Kink and BDSM practices in the disability space.
• Working with Families & Supports
