Neuro physiotherapy is a specialised field focused on supporting individuals with neurological conditions.

The brain’s ability to adapt and rewire after injury, known as neuroplasticity, is at the heart of neurological physiotherapy. Through targeted, repetitive exercises, we help retrain the brain to restore movement and function.

At Royal Rehab LifeWorks Ryde, our experienced physiotherapists deliver personalised, evidence-based therapy using some of Australia’s most advanced rehab technologies. We focus on improving movement, strength, balance, and overall function to support greater independence and quality of life.

In-clinic

Depending on your needs, your therapy may also incorporate occupational therapy, exercise physiology, speech pathology, dietetics, and other allied health services.

What to expect

Task-specific training

Practising real-life movements to retrain the brain, helping with walking, siting, standing, and moving independently.

Strength training

Tailored exercises strengthen weakened muscles, improving stability and preventing further strength loss.

Enhancing balance and coordination

Specialised exercises improve balance and coordination, reducing the risk of falls and improving ability to engage in functional tasks.

Gait retraining

Improving walking ability, balance, and coordination through targeted exercises.

Core and postural muscle training

Aimed at strengthening the muscles that support posture and stability, helping to prevent injuries.

Improving arm and hand function

Strengthening and coordination exercises help restore movement and dexterity in affected limbs.

Constraint-induced movement therapy

Restricting the stronger limb to encourage the use of the affected side.

Managing muscle stiffness

Stretching and positioning techniques help reduce tightness and improve comfort.

Reducing pain

Physiotherapy helps alleviate joint and muscle pain caused by imbalances or improper movement.

Preventing complications

Regular movement and therapy help reduce the risk of issues like pressure sores, contractures, and blood clots.
